When 'Ugly Betty' returns to ABC on Friday the 16th of October, fans may notice that Ms. Betty might soon be undergoing some beautifying processes...
Speaking to Zap2It, Ana Ortiz (who plays my fave 'Betty' character, Betty's sister Hilda and also recently welcomed a baby girl into the world) confirmed that in the shows two part season opener, Betty will be getting her braces taken off!
GASP!
The news has already riled some fans, who claim the treatment of Betty's character mirrors what happened to the original Betty in the Colombian telenova from which the Betty we know and love originates.
However, Ortiz is quick to claim that fans shouldn't be worried that Betty will soon be cracking out the weaves and tank-tops, citing this decision as a 'transition' for Betty's character.
She said; "They are coming off this season. Even in the first episode - it's a two-hour episode, it's brilliant - she starts to make the transition. It's really exciting. In the original 'Betty la fea' they tried to make her pretty, and the country went bananas. We are not going to turn her into a supermodel. She is Betty and she will always be Betty, but she's going to evolve"
